Note to Self
A simple reminder to stop looking at screens for a few moments and go outside. Always good advice, and seeing as my thesis is related to the outdoors, it may just help me with my schoolwork.
It's also in line with another beautiful idea called #OptOutside. The program was thought up by REI and debuted last year. Black Friday 2015 REI closed its 149 stores, giving its employees one more day off and encouraging everyone to spend time outside and not in crowd-clogged malls and outlets.
I went Black Friday shopping once, and I agree, #OptOutside is a better way to spend a Friday, especially considering the mass consumption that took place the day before.
I think #OptOutside should be the new American tradition. Everyone already agrees consumerism is overrated, anyway. So this Black Friday I'll be hiking in Hickory Run State Park. What will you be doing?
